Ahorro Corporación Financiera was founded in 1989 by a group of 43 Spanish Savings Banks which accounted for 53% of the Spanish financial system in order to centralise a certain number of Investment Banking services in a single entity. The objective was to generate economies of scale and size in order to compete with large domestic and international institutions.
Over time it broadened its business lines (fund management, asset securitisation, private equity funds, infrastructures and real estate and others) and began to provide its services to Spanish businesses, large companies and other financial institutions that were not shareholders.
In the year 2017 a group of investors comprised of Atitlán, StormHarbour and ACF’s current management team picked the baton up from the Savings Banks, taking control of 100% of the company. They are banking on its growth prospects, on the back of ACF’s great legacy as a reference Investment Bank for the Spanish business landscape and the number one independent stock broker in the country.
